If I were to begin an import export business what are good items to start with?

Should I just start with local goods and try to help my neighborhood, or start on something else. Like something basic.

Also what are the most common imported and exported items.

first, i suggest you import the merchandise which you know well . this is very important for you to start. otherwise, i suggest you be patient and start getting more informations about the goods whatever you think it is suitable for time being.

i am from China with more than 16 years trading experiences. if you need something from China. just let me know!
